The Sea Urchins were a 6-piece from West Bromwich: James Roberts (vocals), Simon Woodcock (guitar), Robert Cooksey (guitar), Mark Bevin (bass), Bridget Duffy (tambourine, organ), and Patrick Roberts (drums). Darren Martin later took over on bass. After two fanzine-issued fliexidiscs, Cling Film and Summershine, their debut 7" – Pristine Christine – became the first release on Sarah Records.
